We transferred to Dumaguete from Puerta Galera in the middle of our trip to check out both resorts. Atlantis provided and organized all of our transfers to and from the airport in Manila and Dumaguete as well as secured our domestic airfare. The staff took us to each airport and helped us unload and load up all of our luggage at both locations.
The staff at Dumaguete were top notch. From the small and simple things like remembering your name each day, to being more than helpful at any given time when needed. No matter what you were doing, or where you were on the grounds you were met with a smile, greeting and assistance if required without hesitation.
The short van ride from the airport in Dumaguete ends with you stepping off into a tropical paradise. The grounds of Atlantis Dumaguete are one of the prettiest I have seen on a trip before. From the lush greenery to the huge and towering trees with vines hanging from them, I truly enjoyed my time here. The rooms are situated on a narrow walkway that makes it feel like your own slice of tropical jungle outside your doorstep. The pool area and spa are a conveniently located in the middle of the resort for easy access for your lounging and pampering needs.
The front desk, dining area, camera room, class room and dive shop are perfectly located together around a small plaza area at the waters edge. I truly enjoyed having my meals each day looking out over the beautiful sea just a few feet away. Dumaguete's resort had a new and modern feel with the camera room having all the necessities to store your camera safely each day with plenty of charging ports and compressed air as well.
The dive shop was tucked away just down the path from the beach which made for a nice and easy short walk to the boats each day for diving. The locker room was very spacious with plenty of room to hang your gear and place all your dive accessories in your own named cubby. Tanks, and wash bins were located just outside the locker room so you could start or end your day of diving with ease. Diving in Dumaguete is mostly "Muck" diving with lots of amazing critters, turtles and more to see, but it is not a whole lot of coral diving. You could choose to add on the "Apo Island Day Trip" or if you have it included, this is a great location to do some good coral diving. As with the Puerto Galera dive staff, Dumaguete's is just as amazing. Their knowledgeable dive guides and dive team will take care of all of your needs and help you make a memorable trip.
The room at Dumaguete was very spacious. I believe I had a suite, with two large beds, couch, dressers and a double vanity sink bathroom with walk in shower and closet. There were plenty of outlets that were 220v with international style plugs so you did not need an adapter. The AC worked perfectly and it was a wonderful stay overall.
The food was phenomenal, and our group absolutely loved the menu options and choices for food during our stay. The bar area was perfect place at the end of each day to sit back, relax and enjoy your favorite beverage.
Don't forget to check out the local area while you are here. Atlantis is very good about setting up any and all day tours to the area. So check out the waterfalls, hot springs or go into the local villages and towns to support the community. You won't want to miss it.
In the end we stayed 5 days at Dumaguete and between here and Puerto Galera, Dumaguete was my top choice. I truly enjoyed my stay with Atlantis, and I cannot thank them enough for their services to our group. We will without a doubt be joining Atlantis again in the future. I highly recommend Atlantis to anyone who is a diver, dive group or even vacationer to stay with them. You will not be disappointed!

The restaurant is providing a la carte menu that is different every day.
The mango cocktail is recommended.
The accommodation is clean, tidy, cool, quiet.
The diving (macro) is just superb.
The guides are skilled and so dedicated.
The island of Negros sits in the heart of the Coral Triangle. The muck diving is on par with Sulawesi and the Lembeh Straight and is more than reason enough to dive here. For some of our group this was their first experience muck diving. After the first dive a few were questioning their decision and somewhat disappointed by what they didn't see, lush colorful corals and plentiful fish life. Although, Apo Island trips did check that box off for them later in the week. By the last dive they were enthusiastic muck divers, all thanks to the dive guides who went to great lengths to make sure they saw what was hidden in the muck.
As for the resort itself, what sets it apart from others I have visited is the Five Star staff. From the moment we arrived to the time we stood in line to check-in to fly home there was always someone there to help if needed. Not once did we hear the word no to any request we made. Every one of the staff made it their mission to ensure we would want for nothing.
I wish I could remember everyone's name, liked they remembered ours, to individually recognize their outstanding service. Resort Manager Joseph, Restaurant Manager Albert, Waitresses Anne and Jennifer, Dive Masters Alf and Art and the entire staff live by the Atlantis motto "Arrive as a Guest Leave as a Friend". You have set a standard by which I will judge all others.
I had never been muck diving before. The first few days I was a little disappointed by the lack of coral, but at some point I realized I was seeing some exceptional creatures that aren’t easy to see in other places. We saw a banded sea krait, a sea snake, a wunderpus octopus, a bunch of cuttlefish, a few schools of squid, a lifetime supply of frogfish, lots of nudis, turtles, ghost pipefish, mandarin fish, and even 3 rare Spanish dancers. We spent one day at a nearby island with classic coral, which was a nice break. Also visited Oslob to see the whale sharks. Up to 4 dives a day, plus an optional nigh dive daily.
So, lots of memorable diving! Just realize that 75% of the bottom is going to be silt, mud and rubble. Strangely, that’s where the action is.
The staff here was welcoming and kind. Each member learns and calls you by name when seeing you. It makes you feel like you’re family.
The diving is mostly macro, “muck”, diving in black sand. It is a photographers dream. Very few corals or reefs. The trip out to Apo Island is a must do.
Alfred was our dive guide. He knew where to find all the wonderful critters.
My compliments to the chef and kitchen staff. The meals were delicious and more than I could eat. I asked for half portions several times. Annie was our waitress and she was awesome.
My reservation representative, Emily Jamero, did an amazing job helping me make all the arrangements for this trip. She really went above and beyond.
The resort is beautiful with lush landscaping. The rooms are great, the restaurant was fabulous, and the staff super friendly and everyone (gardener, spa, dive team, bar, restaurant ) knew your name by day 2. You really do feel like family.
The diving – over the top amazing. All groups were small and our group was made up of 4 avid photographers and every day we saw something new – a virtual feast for the eyes. Our groups were small, and our DM Wing could find anything and everything. From Shaun the Sheep nudibranch’s to creatures so small you had to take photos and blow them up to see what they were, he found them all. While we hadn’t seen a single blue ringed octopus in the first 6 days, after I extended, we saw 5 of them (sorry Dallas folks!).
